US MARINE CORPS HMMWVs TO GET THE LATEST ADVANCED VEHICLE SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY
Sterling Heights MI, October 21, 2010: Horstman Inc is pleased to announce that the company has been selected by the United States Marine Corp (USMC) to provide a Compressible Fluid Strut (CF Strut) solution for the High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) Suspension Upgrade program.
This USMC HMMWV program addresses the unique issues its Warfighters are encountering in Iraq and Afghanistan. The program goal is to add 2,500 pounds of payload capacity, while retaining the original mobility performance, reduced maintenance, and providing a safer vehicle through enhanced stability. The program’s aim is to provide an easy to adapt solution which can be rapidly fitted into the numerous HMMWV variants, with dozens of configurations.
The Horstman CF Strut is a bolt in replacement of the existing shock absorber. This technology has already been proven by Horstman in heavy Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles, where CF Struts have provided increased stability and mitigated the propensity for rollover. Horstman’s solution is production-ready and virtually maintenance-free. Following durability and performance trials, the CF Strut could be in full scale production for the USMC’s HMMWV program in as little as four months.

Horstman Defence Systems Limited has been contracted by General Dynamics Land Systems for the development of the InArm® hydropneumatic suspension for the new U.S. Army Ground Combat Vehicle TD Program.
