Horstman shows latest designs at the Turkish IDEF 2015 defence equipment exhibition

Success for Horstman at IDEF 2015

Early in May, members of the sales and engineering team showed our latest suspension designs at the IDEF 2015 exhibition in Istanbul.

The exhibition attracted 800 exhibiting companies from over 50 countries, and was attended by high level political and defence delegations from over 80 countries.

The Turkish Ministry of Defence recognises that it is vital to have a strong armed presence in a country so close to a region of conflict, and to have an equally strong defence industry to support the increasing demand for defence capability, so they were the sponsors of this high-profile international trade exhibition. Horstman has the relevant in-depth domain expertise, so the IDEF exhibition presented a prime platform for us to find new customers and new strategic partners to take our business forward.

Horstman used the opportunity to show the Timoney designed 9-tonne independent axle system manufactured in conjunction with Texelis, reinforcing our close relationship with our technology partners.

The system featured our Horstman advanced next generation suspension system.  The 9 tonne axle design uses Formula 1 sealing technology and incorporates options for real-time damping control, suspension lockout and lockup together with ride height control and the smoothest ride possible in a 9 tonne axle weight class.

Our systems are already successful in Turkey, being standard fit on the Tulpar Infantry Fighting Vehicle made by Otokar and the PARS 6x6 Armoured Combat Vehicle made by FNSS. The team seized the opportunity to speak with vehicle manufacturers who value our technological superiority, in order to explore opportunities on new vehicle programmes, and to ensure that our suspension systems are incorporated in the designs from the outset.

On the Horstman stand, we hosted numerous individuals and delegations, all showing an in-depth interest in our capability and recognition of our expertise.

If you were not present at IDEF 2015, but would welcome a discussion about your forthcoming vehicle designs, please contact us.
